The UofL Board of Trustees officially approved Vince Tyra as the new permanent University of Louisville Director of Athletics on Monday.

The vote was unanimous.

Tyra’s contract will be for five-years, $850,000 per year. He also can earn up to $150,000 in incentives.

Prior to the vote by the UofL Board of Trustees, the UofL Athletic Association unanimously voted to approve Tyra as the permanent director of athletics.

Tyra was officially introduced at a press conference Monday afternoon. While there, he spoke about what his department will focus on going forward:

Of course, one of the first big things Tyra will have to work on is getting a permanent men’s basketball head coach:

Tyra also spoke about the UofL fan base:

Tyra has been the school’s Interim Director of Athletics since October. He officially replaces longtime Director of Athletics Tom Jurich, who was fired by the university in October after an ongoing FBI investigation alleged UofL was part of a national college basketball recruiting scandal.
