UofL ATHLETICS | The trustees who will decide the fate of Tom Jurich

10/17/2017 02:03 PM

On Wednesday, the University of Louisville’s Board of Trustees will meet to discuss and decide the fate of suspended athletic director Tom Jurich.

Jurich, along with former UofL men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino, were placed on leave last month following the release of details of the FBI’s college basketball investigation. On Monday, the University of Louisville Athletic Association (ULAA) voted unanimously to fire Pitino for “just cause.” However, it is not the same group of people who will determine whether or not Jurich should be reinstated. Instead, UofL’s Board of Trustees oversees Jurich’s employment. Its members are as follows:

  • William Armstrong (Staff Constituency Representative)
  • Enid Trucios-Haynes (Faculty Constituency Representative)
  • Vishnu Tirumala (Student Constituency Representative)
  • Bonita K. Black, of Crestwood, a corporate attorney who also served on Governor Matt Bevin’s transition team
  • Raymond Burse, of Prospect, President of Kentucky State University from August 2014 until May 2016
  • Brian A. Cromer, of Louisville, an attorney
  • Sandra Frazier, of Louisville, chief executive officer of Tandem Public Relations and Marketing
  • J. David Grissom, of Louisville, chairman of Mayfield Capital
  • Diane B. Medley, of Ekron, managing partner and co-founder of accounting firm Mountjoy Chilton Medley
  • James M. Rogers, a UofL alumnus and former executive vice president and chief operating officer of Louisville-based investment firm J.J.B. Hilliard, W.L. Lyons Inc.
  • Nitin Sahney, of Prospect, former president and chief executive officer of Omnicare
  • John H. Schnatter, of Louisville, founder and chief executive officer of Papa John’s
  • Dr. Ronald L. Wright, of Prospect, a gynecologist

The 13 people listed above are all voting members on the Board of Trustees. The Board only has to have a majority vote to pass a measure. It does not need to be unanimous.
