The University of Louisville has confirmed to Spectrum News that Mark Jurich has left the UofL athletics department. Jurich is the son of former Athletic Director Tom Jurich and served as the department’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development.

Interim Athletic Director Vince Tyra released the following statement:

“Each of the departing staff members have made productive contributions to this university and we wish them the best in their future ventures. As we move forward, we will be restructuring leadership positions within our department and creating efficiencies among our senior staff.

Mark is very talented and we sincerely appreciate the strong effort and performance that he has contributed to Cardinal Athletics from his time as a student-athlete through the valuable work he has accomplished as a member of our administrative staff.”

According to the athletic department’s website, Jurich was responsible for the development office and served as the sport administrator for the Cardinals’ baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s golf programs.

Jurich tweeted on Friday afternoon, “It is with great sadness that I let you know I was asked to leave UofL today. I want to thank the thousands of friends I have made as a student-athlete, administrator and fan. While the past 3 months have been difficult, nothing will change my love for this amazing University.”

Two other employees, Kim Maffet, associate athletics director for human resources, and Julianne Waldron, associate athletics director for marketing, are also parting ways due to the restructuring, according to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations and UofL Sports Information Director Kenny Klein.
