UK FOOTBALL | Stoops shows faith in Towles to instill trust in Barker

10/06/2015 05:27 PM

The University of Kentucky football team had a scare last weekend when EKU came to town and held the lead going into the fourth quarter. The quarterback play by Patrick Towles was being called into question by many in attendance, but head coach Mark Stoops didn’t pull his struggling quarterback even though it would have been completely justified. Drew Barker was waiting in the wings for his name to be called after Stoops the week before outlined his hopes to get Barker involved against the Colonels.

Instead, in the face of a two touchdown deficit, Stoops showed faith in Towles and his reasoning was to instill trust in Barker.

We talked with former player and coach Adam Froman about the decision to keep Towles in the game, and what it is like to be a back up expecting playing time that hasn’t come.
