The Louisville Baseball team got off to a good start in their first game of the NCAA Regional Championship Friday night by defeating Western Michigan 6-1. The Cards had a balanced offensive attack with five different players scoring in front of a capacity crowd. The team was led by Sophomore third baseman Blake Tiberi, who hit .500 for the game, with a 2-run homer in the 7th inning.

Senior Pitcher Kyle Funkouser had a solid performance on the mound, with only one earned run and 6 strikeouts in 8 innings pitched.

The Cards continue their Regional tournament run on Saturday, when they take on Number 2 seed Ohio State, who defeated Wright State in a close 7-6 victory in Friday’s first game. Game time is 4pm at Jim Patterson Stadium.
