Friday was a good day for the Louisville Cardinals baseball team. UofL rallied to beat Kennesaw State 5-3 to take a 1-0 series lead in their best of 5 Super Regional series. Earlier in the day, senior outfielders Jeff Gardner (pictured) and Cole Sturgeon were both taken in the Major League Baseball Draft. Gardner, the American Athletic Conference player of the year was chosen in the 8th round by Washington, while center fielder/pitcher Cole Sturgeon went to the Red Sox in the 10th round. The pair join relief pitcher Nick Burdy as Cardinals chosen. Burdy went yesterday in the second round to Minnesota with the 46th overall pick, making the junior the highest drafted Cardinal Baseball Player in school history. The MLB draft concludes on Saturday with rounds 11-40.
