Two down, one to go for American Pharoah

Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah has added the Preakness to his 2015 resume. In a rainstorm, the Bob Baffert trained horse dominated, winning easily in 1:58:46. Tale of Verve was second, Diving Rod came in third, with Dortmund finishing fourth. Kentucky Derby runner-up Firing Line wound up a disappointing 7th in the eight horse Preakness Stakes.
American Pharoah is the 35th horse to win the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. We have not had a triple crown winner since Affirmed back in 1978. The final leg of the triple crown, the Belmont Stakes, is Saturday June 6th from Elmont, NY.
Last year California Chrome was in a similar situation, winning the first two legs of the triple crown before falling short in the Belmont. All eyes will be on American Pharoah between now and the first week in June.
