Three Take-Aways From Rick Pitino's Press Conference Previewing Houston

The Cards lineup looks completely different than what they started the season with, but UofL is still looking for the slam dunk combination.

  • Chris Jones tweaked an oblique against SMU and will not play against Houston. With Jones out, Rick Pitino said he has a lot of confidence in “Wichita” (a.k.a. Hendo, a.k.a. Tim Henderson).
  • Wayne Blackshear will come off the bench. So the lineup could be Russ Smith, Terry Rozier, Luke Hancock, Montrezl Harrell and either Stephen VanTreese/ Mangok Mathiang.
  • Russ Smith and Montrezl Harrell might have to play 38 minutes a game.
  • BONUS: Assistant coach Mike Balado took a tumble on the stairs outside of the Yum! Center answering a call from a recruit. Now that’s dedication.

Congratulations to Kevin Keatts who was promoted to associate head coach. Keatts has been with UofL since April 2011 as an assistant coach and was rated by ESPN’s Jeff Goodman as the third most respected/feared assistant coach in July of 2013.
