Thomas More reveals championship banner

The Thomas More women’s basketball team celebrated their back-to-back undefeated national titles with a ceremony Thursday night. The Saints finished with a 66-0 record over the past two seasons on their way to two straight national championships, most recently beating Tufts in the finals in Indianapolis earlier this month. It was the first time a team has gone back-to-back since Washington University in St. Louis won four straight beginning with the 1998 season.

The 2016 national championship banner was revealed at the ceremony joining the 2015 banner on the wall in the Connor Convocation Center, but the night also included a surprise for their senior star player. Thomas More College President David Armstrong announced that the school will retire Sydney Moss’ #40 jersey at some point during the season next year. Moss won two national championships while being named DIII National Player of the Year each of her three seasons at Thomas More.
