Tonight’s friendly match between Louisville City and its former MLS parent club Orlando City won’t count toward either team’s win/loss record. But, the importance of the match is clear.
Louisville City has seen great support from the fans and community in its inaugural season. City Head Coach James O’Connor says the fans will enjoy this match-up.
Orlando City midfielder Brek Shea says bringing an MLS Club to Louisville for the match could help grow the game of soccer in Kentucky.
Louisville City has 12 wins, six draws and four losses on the season. Goodwin hopes this match can energize the team through its five remaining regular season games.
Louisville is currently in second place behind Rochester in the USL’s Eastern division. The regular season resumes this weekend as City hosts the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday.
