St. Xavier High School in Louisville is watching closely as PGA Tour standout and St. X alum Justin Thomas tees off in his very first major — the PGA Championship currently underway in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
The tournament officially began on Thursday and Thomas competes against some of golf’s elite names, including Phil Mickelson. The two participated in a practice round together on Wednesday and Thomas’ former high school golf coach Dan Utley says he knows rubbing elbows with golf’s who’s who won’t phase Thomas at all.
Likewise, Thomas continues to support his alma mater. In fact, he was present on Tuesday when the St. X Tigers nabbed the two top spots at the 52nd Knights Travel Kentucky Invitational Tournament.
