Quick hits from Day 2 of UofL football practice

- Freshman QB Reggie Bonnafon is shining in the morning practices. While he splits the reps pretty evenly with Tyler Ferguson and Tyler Brigham, he is always first in line for drills and seems to be taking on a leadership role. His short and mid-range passes are almost always on point. Red shirt sophomore Will Gardner practices in the afternoon, and yesterday, head coach Bobby Petrino said Gardner was not as consistent as he was in spring ball, but overall, it was a good day for him.
- Junior transfer James Sample arrived on campus late, and it is showing a bit in his conditioning. While he is still one of the more impressive safeties in the morning group, he’s got hands on his hips (a sign of fatigue) early on in practice. That should improve as he works with the UofL coaching staff and catches up to the other players who have been here all summer.
- Bobby Petrino is taking no prisoners. He runs his practice fast, constantly changing up plays to keep his defense and offense on their toes and thinking. He, as well as the entire coaching staff, stress that the players hustle to get back to their positions or off the field after a play. This season the Cards will not be taking a play off.
