NIT BASKETBALL | WKU Hilltoppers Advance To Semifinal Round

The Western Kentucky Hilltopper Men’s Basketball team (27-10) defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys (21-15) 92-84 in the quarterfinal round of the NIT in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Eddie Sutton Court.

The Hilltoppers advance to the semifinals in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on March 27. Tip-off time will be either 7:00 or 9:00 p.m. EST on ESPN where they will face two-seed Utah.

Freshman guard Taveion Hollingsworth finished with 30 points, eight rebounds and an assist for the Tops.

All five WKU starters scored in double-figures. They shot 52.5% from the field as a team, and 38.5% from three-point range.

The Tops defense held the Pokes’ leading scorer, Jeffrey Carrol to just nine points. Four Ok. St. players scored in double-figures.

The NIT Championship game will be played in MSG March 29 and 7:00 p.m. EST on ESPN2.
