Nick Burdi is Stopper of the Year

Nick Burdi has been THE man out of the bullpen for the Cardinals all season. Saturday the junior was rewarded for his consistency by being named Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Burdi has had an amazing season with a 3-1 record, an e.r.a. of 0.51 and 18 saves. Burdi is also UofL’s all time leader in saves with 34. Burdi struck out a couple batters in the Cards College World Series opener Saturday night, but UofL lost to Vanderbilt 5-3. The tournament is double elimination so Louisville will face Texas Monday at 3pm. The loser of that game calls it a season.
