NFL | Late game heroics gives Bengals a narrow win over Indianapolis

10/29/2017 04:39 PM

Defensive lineman Carlos Dunlap turned out to be the unlikely hero in the Cincinnati Bengals’ narrow win over the Indianapolis Colts. Trailing 23-17, Dunlap intercepted a pass from Colts QB Jacoby Brissett and returned it for a touchdown. The Randy Bullock extra point gave Cincy the one point lead that would hold until time expired. The Bengals win 24-23 over the visiting Colts.

Cincinnati’s offense was consistent against the Colts’ defense. Bengals QB Andy Dalton complete 17-of-29 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. 91 of those yards were thanks to rookie running back Joe Mixon, who also finished with 11 rushing attempts. Meanwhile the Cincy defense held Indy to 331 yards of total offense.

Brisset threw for over 230 yards for the Colts, and also recorded a pair of touchdowns. His main target for the afternoon was Western Kentucky alum Jack Doyle at tight end. Doyle finished the game with 12 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Cincinnati improves to 3-4 this season, and will now hit the road for three straight games. Next week, the Bengals play at Jacksonville in the 1:00 p.m. time slot.

The Colts drop to 2-6, and are also on the road next week. Indianapolis will play Houston next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
