NFL | George Fant Starting at Left Tackle for Seahawks

11/17/2016 08:08 PM

Former WKU football and basketball player George Fant is making the most of his NFL rookie season.

The current Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman has started the last three games for the team after Bradley Sowell injured his knee against the Arizona Cardinals.

Sowell is returning from his injury, but the team has said he will be competing for the job at right tackle, meaning Fant will continue to start on the left side of the line.

Fant’s path to the NFL has been very interesting.

He was a star basketball player at WKU, and remains 13th on the program’s all-time scoring list.

During his fifth and final year of eligibility at WKU, he decided to try football, a sport he hadn’t played since eighth grade.

Then, after going unpicked in this year’s NFL Draft, he was acquired as a free agent by the Seahawks.

Andrew Chernoff caught up with the Seahawks left tackle via SKYPE on Thursday:
