NBA preseason basketball returned to the KFC Yum! Center for the third consecutive year on Saturday as the Minnesota Timberwolves played the Miami Heat.

The Timberwolves won the game 101-96.

The match-up featured nine lead changes and seven ties. Minnesota took command though in the third quarter and never looked back.

Many fans in the crowd were wearing either Kentucky blue or Louisville red, in support of former Wildcat Karl-Anthony Towns and former Cardinal Gorgui Dieng.

Both players are members of the Timberwolves.

Towns finished the game with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Towns of course played for the Kentucky Wildcats during the 2014-2015 season before declaring for the NBA Draft. He was named NBA Rookie of the Year last season.

Meanwhile, Dieng finished the game with 12 points and one rebound.

Dieng played for the Louisville Cardinals from 2010-2013. He was an important piece on the Cards’ 2012-2013 NCAA championship team.
