MOREHEAD STATE | Preston Spradlin excited for return to Rupp Arena

Morehead State men’s basketball plays its first exhibition game of the season on Monday, and it will most likely be the toughest tests all year. That’s because the Eagles are taking on their Lexington neighbor, the University of Kentucky.

The exhibition is for a good cause though, as the game will be played as a fundraising effort for hurricane a wildfire relief.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for Morehead State coach Preston Spradlin. Before earning an assistant role at MSU, Spradlin spent five seasons as a staff member at Kentucky. He served as a graduate assistant, and assistant director of operations under UK coach John Calipari, and was part of the team that won the National Championship in 2012.

He knows coach Cal recruits some of the best talent in the country, and he is excited to test his team against a perennial power.

Spradlin obviously very close to Calipari after serving under him for so many years. That’s why when Spradlin was facing the challenges of being a first time head coach, he was quick to reach out to Cal for advice.
