With Terry Rozier leading the way, Louisville beat Northern Iowa 66-53 to advance to the Sweet 16. The sophomore guard had it going all night, pouring in a game-high 25 points, dishing out seven assists and pulling down five rebounds. In the locker room Rozier said the team was able to learn from the last game and that made all the difference Sunday night.
Three other Cards reached double figures in the win. Montrezl Harrell scored 14, and both Wayne Blackshear and Quentin Snider chipped in 10. Down the stretch, it was Harrell’s alleyoop dunk that sealed the Round of 32 win. Blackshear said it’s all about the team “locking in.”
Mangok Mathiang describes the game changing moment for the team.
Next up for the UofL is a date with North Carolina State, who knocked off top-seeded Villanova. The Cards and Wolfpack met late in the regular season, with NC State earning a nine-point win at the KFC Yum! Center. Friday’s tipoff is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET.
This will be Louisville’s fourth consecutive trip to the Sweet 16.
