For the first time in school history, a University of Louisville women’s cross country runner has earned the program’s first-ever individual All-American honor.

Sophomore Dorcas Wasike received the recognition on Saturday at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park. Wasike said running on a course at home made a huge difference in her performance.

The Eastern Kentucky University women’s cross country team finished 23rd out of the 31 teams. The team was the first-ever OVC women’s team to qualify for the championships in the league’s 70-year history.
