LOUISVILLE CITY FC | James O'Connor Accepts Coaching Position with Orlando City SC

06/29/2018 12:11 PM

Louisville City FC head coach James O’Connor is leaving the club to become the coach at Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC.

O’Connor informed the team Friday morning that he has agreed to a deal in principle to accept the coaching position with Orlando City SC. Assistant coach Daniel Byrd is also going to go to Orlando City SC with O’Connor.

“This has been a difficult decision for myself and my family and in such a short space of time,” said O’Connor in a press release. “While I will forever be grateful for my time here with Louisville City FC, the opportunity to coach in Major League Soccer is simply one I cannot pass up.”

O’Connor will be in charge of the Boys in Purple during their match Saturday against New York Red Bulls II.

Meanwhile, LouCity FC is prepared to proceed with players George Davis IV, Paolo DelPiccolo and Luke Spencer “carrying in place as joint interim head coaches.”
