Louisville City FC put on a thrilling victory over Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC on Tuesday night. The game drew a record crowd and brought a little more local and national attention to a soccer club that is thriving in their inaugural season.
The owners of Louisville City and General Manager Amanda Duffy have not been shy when expressing their desire to grow LCFC to the major league level. Attendance throughout the season has exceeded expectations, and when combined with their on field success, Duffy is confident the team is doing what is necessary to gain MLS status or, at the very least, get the ball rolling. That starts with building their own stadium.
And Duffy isn’t the only one who believes Louisville City is on track to the MLS. After the game, Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath lauded the atmosphere in Louisville Slugger Field. Heath said he is not surprised by the success James O’Connor and his team have experienced.
Louisville City has established a steadfast following already and has a management team in place that’s prepared to raise the club to the ranks of MLS. However, the process will take time. Pure Politics host Nick Storm explains the potential fiscal and economic impacts of a growing Louisville City FC.
