Louisville Cardinals advance thanks to a total team effort

When the Louisville Cardinals had a chance to dash Michigan’s hopes, the Cards did not fool around. UofL put up 13 runs on the board, on 14 hits, in eliminating Michigan 13-4. With the win, the Cardinals are headed back to the Super Regionals against the winner of the Cal State Fullerton regional.
Nine different Cards had hits in the game, and six different UofL players drove in runs. Louisville had the advantage to begin with. Michigan was forced to play twice on Sunday, coming out of the losers bracket. The Wolverines eliminated Bradley 4-3 Sunday afternoon, but appeared to run out of gas Sunday evening. The Cardinals forced the issue, scoring at least one run in every inning but the 5th and the 8th. Michigan Head Coach Erik Bakich says the Cards have the ability to do some special things.
Louisville has now gone 3-0 in the regionals for the third straight year. Up next, Louisville, the third seeded team nationally, will host the eventual winner out of the Cal State Fullerton regional. Head Coach Dan McDonnell is excited about this week of practice because even though the Cards went unbeaten in the regional, they were far from perfect.
Super Regional schedules will be announced Monday Night. Louisville will have to win 2 of 3 games to advance back to the College World Series for the third straight season.
