Opening Day for most minor league baseball teams get underway on Thursday, April 5.

In addition to a new season, the Lexington Legends will have a new voice on the air this baseball season. Emma Tiedemann, who is a native of Texas, is one of only two female announcers in all of minor league baseball.

Tiedemann was hired during the Baseball Winter Meetings to serve as the play-by-play for the Kansas City Royals, single-A affiliate and says she has never visited Kentucky previously, but is excited to live out her professional dream in Lexington.

Before arriving in the bluegrass state, Tiedemann was the Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant for the St. Paul Saints in Minnesota during the 2017 season.

One major difference in this year’s game broadcasts is Legends games this season will be available streaming for free online through milb.com and lexingtonlegends.com, not on terrestrial radio.

Watch the video below as Tiedemann shares who inspired her at the age of 15 to try announcing for the very first time and much more.
