KENTUCKY DERBY | Justify Wins Kentucky Derby 144

The favorite took care of business on a sloppy track at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

Justify won Kentucky Derby 144, giving trainer Bob Baffert his fifth career Kentucky Derby victory.

With the win, Justify broke the “Apollo Curse,” becoming the first horse since 1882 to win the Kentucky Derby without racing as a two-year-old.

Jockey Mike Smith also becomes the second-oldest winning jockey of the Kentucky Derby. Smith is 52-years-old.

Good Magic and Audible finished second and third respectively.

157,813 fans attended this year’s Run for the Roses, the eighth largest crowd in Kentucky Debry history.
