Kentucky Derby 144 takes place on Saturday inside Churchill Downs.

One of the horses taking part in this year’s event is Combatant.

Trainer Steve Asmussen is hoping Combatant will be able to give him his first career victory at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday:

Asmussen has won multiple major races during his career, including two Preakness Stakes, one Belmont Stakes and two Breeders’ Cup Classic victories.

David Fiske, racing manager of Winchell Thoroughbreds, and Asmussen spoke on Monday morning where they would like to see Combatant start at this year’s Derby:

The post position draw for Kentucky Derby 144 will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET.
