KENTUCKY DERBY | Always Dreaming wins the 143rd Run for the Roses

Always Dreaming is the winner of the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby. Lookin At Lee came in second with Battle of Midway finishing third.

Always Dreaming, trained by Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher, started the race with 9-2 odds. He finished with jockey John Velazquez aboard, who also won the 2011 Kentucky Derby with Animal Kingdom.

Always Dreaming paid out $11.40 on a $2 bet to win. The trifecta for Always Dreaming, Lookin At Lee and Battle of Midway paid $16,594.40.

Despite an unseasonably cold and wet Saturday in May, Churchill Downs announced 158,070 people in attendance.
