Kentucky High School Basketball 'HistoryMobile' Stops in Lexington

This year is the 100th anniversary of Kentucky’s Sweet 16 basketball tournament.
To celebrate the milestone, the Kentucky Historical Society is dedicating its HistoryMobile, an exhibit on wheels that travels the state in a semi-trailer to honor the sport, and educate fans on how basketball has helped schools and communities address race and gender issues, rural and urban development, and so much more.

The HistoryMobile has the support of the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame museum, which opened in August 2017 in Elizabethtown.

While the HistoryMobile’s interior exhibit will be completed this summer, high school basketball fans are able to get a sneak preview of the exterior this week. During the tournaments, the HistoryMobile will be parked in the Rupp Arena parking lot on the High Street side. It’s impossible to miss. The Kentucky Historical Society asks basketball fans to “come take a selfie” in front of the HistoryMobile and share it with friends.

It’s a great way for fans to commemorate their visit to the Sweet Sixteen while helping the Kentucky Historical Society take the HistoryMobile viral, before it hits the road this summer.
