James Sample to enter the NFL draft

After one season in Louisville, it appears James Sample is heading to the NFL.
Washington-based reporter Lars Hanson broke the news Monday afternoon that Sample, a junior strong safety for the Cards, will forgo his final season of eligibility and declare for the 2015 NFL Draft. In his lone year at UofL, the 6-foot-2 safety led the team with 90 tackles and tallied four interceptions.
This will mark the second straight season where the Cards will have to replace both starting safeties. A year ago, the program lost Calvin Prior (NFL Draft) and Hakeem Smith (graduation). Now they will have to do the same for Sample and Jim Thorpe Award winner Gerod Holliman, who has also announced his intentions to turn pro early.
