H.S. SPORTS | Tickets available for KHSAA state football championships

Tickets are now available for the Russell Athletic/KHSAA State Football Finals.

Six state championship games, hosted by the University of Kentucky and the city of Lexington, will be played at Kroger Field Dec. 1-3.

The complete schedule is as follows:

Class 1A – Friday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. – Tickets
Class 3A – Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. – Tickets
Class 2A – Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. – Tickets
Class 4A – Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m. – Tickets
Class 5A – Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. – Tickets
Class 6A – Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. – Tickets

Match-ups will be set following the state semifinal games on Friday.

Lexington was the original home to the KHSAA state football finals, with games being played at Stoll Field from 1959-1966 and 1968-1972. For the last eight years, games have been played at Houchens-LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

The 2002 state title game has been called the greatest in Kentucky high school football history. Future Louisville Cardinals Brian Brohm and Michael Bush went head-to-head in the Male-Trinity match-up.
