H.S. FOOTBALL | Trinity, Lafayette Gearing Up for 6A State Championship

12/02/2016 07:10 PM

The Trinity Shamrocks (14-0) will face the Lafayette Generals (13-1) in the KHSAA 6A State Championship Game on Saturday night.

Kickoff inside Bowling Green’s Houchens-Smith Stadium is set for 9 p.m. ET.

Trinity beat Lafayette 45-7 earlier this season.

This will be Trinity’s 28th appearance in a football state championship game. The Rocks are 23-4 in the previous 27 match-ups. A win Saturday would give the Shamrocks their 24th state football title, which would move them themselves alone to first place all-time in the Bluegrass. Currently, they are tied with Highlands with 23 state titles.

Meanwhile, this will be Lafayette’s second straight season in the KHSAA 6A State Championship Game. Last year, the Generals fell to Male.
