Danville High School football star D’mauriae VanCleave was named Kentucky Mr. Football on Thursday by the Associated Press.

VanCleave helped lead his Admirals to the Class 2A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl championship game this season, where they won their first title since 2003.

This past season, he accounted for over 1,800 yards of offense, while also scoring 29 all-purpose touchdowns.

VanCleave is the first-ever Danville High School football player to receive the honor.
