12/01/2017 04:27 PM

The Beechwood High School football team found itself in a familiar position Friday afternoon, hoisting up the KHSAA 1A State Championship Game trophy.

The Tigers (12-2) dominated Raceland (10-5) inside Kroger Field en route to a 41-0 win.

It’s the second consecutive KHSAA 1A State Championship for the Tigers.

Beechwood running back James Davis was one of the stars of the show for the Tigers. He finished the game with 88 yards on the ground on 24 carries, scoring three rushing touchdowns in the process.

Wide receiver Daniel Mescher also had a solid game for the Tigers, hauling in 12 passes for 118 receiving yards. He also had one touchdown reception.

The Tigers’ defense was on point throughout the game as well, holding the Rams to only 27 total yards.
