The Christian Academy of Louisville field hockey team won the 2017 KHSAA State Championship on Wednesday evening in front of its home crowd.

CAL topped Assumption 2-1 thanks to a second half goal by the Centurions’ Claudia Thomas with under 11 minutes to play in the game.

Thomas’ goal was the only goal scored by either team in the second half.

Assumption was the defending state champion, having won the 2016 state title.
