The Assumption Rockets won the 2016 KHSAA Field Hockey State Championship on Wednesday night at Bellarmine University.

The Rockets beat DuPont Manual 1-0 in an overtime thriller.

It’s the second field hockey state championship in the last three years for Assumption.

The hero for Assumption was freshman midfielder Lee Ann Gordon, who scored the game-winning goal late in the first overtime period.

cn|2 Sports’ Andrew Chernoff was at the game and caught up with the hero and her head coach, Debbie Judd, after the match.
