Holmes Baseball opens season on renovated Meinken Field

03/23/2016 09:59 AM

The first official baseball game at Meinken All Star Field was played on Friday night between Holmes and Holy Cross High Schools. Meinken looks much different than it did a year ago thanks to some help from the MLB and their All Star Legacy Projects. The renovation includes a new turf field, upgrades to the outdated scoreboard and dugouts, new lights, refinished fencing and netting, and the addition of new batting cages. Meinken Field is one of many fields that are a part of the Reds ball field renovations. Through their Community Fund, the Reds began renovating area baseball facilities in 2006. Today, more than 350 fields have been renovated throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and Tennessee.
