Players from two Kentucky universities are named on the 2017 Manning Award preseason watch list. Western Kentucky quarterback Mike White and University of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson are among the award’s initial 30 candidates.

It is the fourth preseason watch list honor for Jackson and the sixth for White.

Jackson is the reigning ACC Player of the Year. He posted a record-breaking campaign last season, recording a school record 5,114 yards of total offense and a school and league mark of 51 touchdowns.

White was a “Star of the Week“ performer following his Hilltopper debut vs. Rice to begin the 2016 season. Against the Owls, he completed 25-of-31 passes for 517 yards and three touchdowns as WKU started the year with a 46-14 victory.

The Manning Award is the only annual quarterback honor that includes candidates’ bowl performances in the balloting. The list of 10 finalists will be released on November 30.
