Governor's Cup Rivalry has more at stake for the players involved

11/25/2016 07:15 PM

The University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville meet on the football field for the 29th time tomorrow afternoon, and there is a certain level of pride on the line for this game that you wont necessarily find in the basketball rivalry.

The two programs have a combined 67 players that come from Kentucky high schools. They also each have a few players that come from the rival city. So when the teams take the field, the players taking part don’t just have a dislike for each other from their college careers only, it often extends back to the high school level.

The two programs are tied at 14 wins apiece in the overall series. U of L has won the last five meetings, and is the heavy favorite in this year’s. Lyndsey Gough and TJ Beisner were on the show today to take a closer look at what’s on the line tomorrow afternoon.
