A record crowd of just over 35,000 came out Saturday night to watch FC Cincinnati take on the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace FC. It was not only a record for the team but also the largest soccer crowd ever in Ohio.
The fans weren’t enough though for FC Cincinnati to pull out a victory. They fell 2-0.
Cincinnati’s Omar Cummings nearly scored in the 44th minute but his shot was knocked over the crossbar. They had another change in the 85th minute with a free kick by Derek Luke but the ball was saved just in front of the goal.
FC Cincinnati will get back to league play Wednesday the 20th when they take on the New York Red Bulls. That game will be at 7pm at Nippert Stadium.
