Fans get an early look at the 2014-15 UofL Hoopsters

It was quite a way to start a season. Chris Jones hit the game winning three pointer in the final seconds as the White Team beat the Red 75-72 in Louisville’s Basketball Scrimmage. The score though was secondary. The 10-thousand fans in attendance wanted to see what the 2014-2015 team is all about, and by most accounts, fans, and coaches had to be impressed.

The veteran leaders all contributed. Sophomore Guard Terry Rozier led all scorers with 25 points, while Junior Forward Montrezl Harrell added 24. Senior Forward Wayne Blackshear had 20 and Senior Point Guard Chris Jones finished with 18 points. Maybe the big surprise was center Anas Mahmoud. Emphasize Big; the 7 footer led all freshman with 12 points.

Before the game, the media had a chance to chat with all the players. The one thing I came away with was how unified the team appears to be. The freshman are excited to be learning from veterans who have experienced multiple NCAA Tournament games. All the players seem pumped and prepared to play in the ACC. CN|2 sports will be running interviews with all your favorites this week at 6:30pm ET.

The Cards have 1 more inter squad scrimmage this coming Sunday at 2pm in the YUM Center. UofL then has 2 more preseason games at the YUM Center (Nov 1st vs Barry and Nov 9th vs Bellarmine), before starting the season November 14th against Minnesota at a US Air Station in Puerto Rico.
