Eastern Kentucky opened the conference portion of their season last night at Tennessee Martin with a win that was especially satisfying for senior forward Eric Stutz.
Stutz entered the game needing only five points to join the 1,000 point club; which he accomplished with a layup towards the end of the first half. Stutz finished the game with 13 points and became the 13th player in EKU history to record at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career.
The Colonels improve to 9-5 on the season and 1-0 in OVC play. They were paced by Corey Walden and his game high 21 points. Walden also chipped in 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Denzel Richardson added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Next up for EKU is a trip to Cape Girardeau this Saturday to face Southeast Missouri State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
