Eastern Kentucky freshman guard Asante Gist is already making a big difference for his Colonel basketball team this season.

On Monday, he was voted the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, after scoring 21 points and getting seven rebounds during his team’s 97-87 win over IUPUI Friday night.

During that game, he went 16-of-22 from the free throw line.

Then on Monday night, Gist scored 15 points for the Colonels in their 78-69 overtime loss to UNC Wilmington.
