EKU MEN'S BASKETBALL | Colonels Preparing for No. 11 Louisville

12/13/2016 09:18 PM

The Eastern Kentucky men’s basketball team is gearing up for an in-state battle Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels (6-5) will face the No. 11 Louisville Cardinals (9-1) inside the KFC Yum! Center. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. ET.

The match-up will be this year’s Billy Minardi Classic, named in honor of UofL head coach Rick Pitino’s best friend Billy Minardi, who died during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City.

EKU enters the game coming off an overtime loss to Ball St. last Saturday.

Saturday will be a special game for Colonels’ head coach Dan McHale, as he will be going head-to-head against a man McHale respects. He got his coaching start under Rick Pitino as a Louisville staff assistant from 2001 to 2003.
