EKU FOOTBALL | Mark Elder focused on process, not results

The Eastern Kentucky football team won their home opener over Pikeville last night 55-14. That score alone would lead you to think the Colonels controlled the game the entire 60 minutes, but it wasn’t until the end of the second quarter when the home team hit their groove.

The Colonels finished the game with over 380 yards of offense and three defensive touchdowns, but it was three early turnovers and over a dozen penalties that were the focus of head coach Mark Elder’s post game press conference. He says the team, laying most of the responsibility on himself and his coaching staff, needs to iron out the mistakes to be successful. The results are not as important as a sound approach to games and practice.
