The EKU Colonels open up their regular season on Saturday when they face in-state rival WKU.

It will be the first match-up between the two programs since the 2008 season.

In the last meeting of “The Battle of the Bluegrass,” WKU beat EKU 37-13.

EKU head coach Mark Elder is entering his second season with the Colonels and is hoping to start the 2017 campaign on the right note. He joined Andrew Chernoff via Skype on Tuesday to preview Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky.

Kickoff on Saturday is set for 7 p.m. ET at Houchens-Smith Stadium in Bowling Green..
