EKU FOOTBALL | Colonels Preparing for Home Opener

09/19/2017 12:51 PM

The EKU Colonels are practicing this week in preparation of their home opener.

The Colonels (0-2) host Tennessee Tech (0-2) on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET inside Roy Kidd Stadium.

EKU is coming off a bye week after falling in its first two games of the regular season to WKU and UK.

The Colonels lead the all-time series over Tennessee Tech 53-20.

Besides the fact that it’s the home opener for the Colonels, there is a lot of excitement from the fans for other reasons too. The program will unveil a statute of legendary coach Roy Kidd on Saturday afternoon. Besides that, it will be the first chance for fans to see the “newly constructed east side” of the stadium.

In addition, the 1967 Grantland Rice Bowl Champions will be honored as well.

EKU head coach Mark Elder joined Sports Night on Tuesday to discuss this weekend’s home opener with Spectrum News’ Andrew Chernoff:
