EKU BASKETBALL | Why good offense can offset bad defense

Under new head coach Dan McHale, Eastern Kentucky is off to a sizzling 6-2 start. It would have been 7-1 if the Colonels had not lost last Tuesday at WKU, 86-84, on a last second three pointer.
Still, McHale seems pleased with the team he has assembled. In the game against WKU, the Colonels, and Hilltoppers for that matter, both shot 50 per cent or better in field goals, three point shots, and free throws.
We had a chance to talk with Coach McHale, and he told us, even though his team gave up 86 points, he was pleased with the offensive effort, and interestingly enough, a good offense can make up for a struggling defense. It was among the topics we touched on during our interview on Thursday.
The Colonels next game is at Savannah State on Saturday. Following that game, EKU prepares for top ranked Kentucky, but there will be no looking past the Tigers. As for UK, check back next Tuesday as we preview EKU’s Wednesday night’s contest at the top ranked team in the country.
