EKU BASKETBALL | Even without the OVC Tournament, the future still looks bright for the Colonels

02/21/2017 07:30 PM

After dropping two games in Nashville last week, the Eastern Kentucky Men’s Basketball team is mathematically eliminated from the playing in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.

The league tournament only takes the top-8 programs and at 3-11 so far this year, the Colonels didn’t make the cut. But head coach Dan McHale has a much clearer vision of the Colonels future.

Today, coach McHale joined the show, and said he still has faith in the foundation that has been built at EKU. His top two scorers are both underclassmen, Asante Gist is one of the top-7 freshman in the country when it comes to points and assists, and the team lost a number of games by five points or fewer.

The Colonels still have two games left this season, and both are at home. The game Saturday against Tennessee Tech will be the last one for senior guard Isaac McGlone, who coach McHale calls one of the all-time EKU greats.
