EKU BASKETBALL | Davis Excited to Play Games for Colonels This Season

EKU forward Jackson Davis is looking forward to the 2017-2018 season.

This will be the first year he is eligible to play in games for the Colonels after having to sit out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.

“For me it was all about helping them (teammates) in any way I could,” said Davis.

Davis, a finalist for the 2014 Kentucky Mr. Basketball award, transferred to EKU from Butler after the 2015-2016 college basketball season.

“I think sitting out a year I was able to see some things that you don’t often see when you’re playing the game,” said Davis.

As a result, his head coach, Dan McHale, saw Davis’ leadership skills grow throughout last season.

“He was an emotional leader for us last year,” said McHale. “I really saw his leadership skills at practice.”

Of course, McHale is excited to see Davis on the court during games this year.

“He’s a tremendous rebounder,” said McHale. “People don’t realize how skilled he is. He can shoot the three. He runs the transition.”

One thing that many may not know about Davis is that he is a big fan of the “Star Wars” franchise:
