East meets west as the Colonels face of with the Hilltoppers

There is a second battle for the bluegrass taking place this weekend as the Eastern Kentucky University and Western Kentucky University prepare to face off on the basketball court.
Tuesday night in the Bowling Green, the Colonels and Hilltoppers will tip off in a rivalry that dates back over 100 years.
This is the 155th meeting of the two programs, WKU leads the all-time series, 111-43.
The Hilltoppers have won 12 straight over the Colonels and EKU is seeking its first win over Western Kentucky since January 7, 1987 and its first win over Western Kentucky in Bowling Green since February 6, 1978.
This is the first matchup between the two commonwealth schools since 2007, and is the first of a four year series.
EKU goes into the game with the sixth best scoring offense in the country, averaging over 93 points per game. They are 6-1 to start the season, and are in the middle of a five game win streak.
WKU is 3-3 so far this year, but their three losses have come form a combined total of 15 points. Three Hilltoppers are scoring in double figures so far this season, led by Justin Johnson at 16.0 points per game. Johnson also leads WKU in rebounding, averaging over 8 per game. WKU is shooting 47.5 percent as a team so far this season.
WKU coach Ray Harper held a press conference Monday afternoon and expects a close game with the in state rivals.
